CIVIC leaders in Jericho will boost trade for shop owners with the third street festival this year.

Traders in Little Clarendon Street, known as Oxford’s trendiest shopping street for its mix of independent boutiques and restaurants, have welcomed the events because they boost footfall and the area's profile.

Thousands of shoppers attended the first celebration in May and it was such a success there was a second in July.

“We have had three festivals already this year, with one more to follow in November jointly with St Giles’ Church and their Xmas Trees - do come along and enjoy yourself.”

Mr Mair, chairman of the Little Clarendon Street Association, decided to bring back the street festivals earlier this year because traders had not staged one for several years.

The street ‘fests’ have been a huge success, with shoppers being drawn from other parts of the city centre to see what Little Clarendon Street and Walton Street has to offer.

All the shops support the event, together with cafes, restaurants and the Duke of Cambridge pub.

The ‘revival’ committee for the street, which runs between Walton Street and Woodstock Road, has raised more than £3,000 to restore the overhead lighting in the street and put up new hanging baskets.

Committee members include Somerville and University colleges

Businesses previously held a street fair in 2016.
