A GARDENING group member who died suddenly was honoured with a new award.
Marsh Gibbon Horticultural Society, near Bicester, honoured its late membership secretary Christine Wood at its 45th autumn show on Saturday.
Organisers of the event at Marsh Gibbon Village Hall create a new 'open flower arrangement' contest in honour of Mrs Wood, and her family provided the Christine Wood plate as a prize.
The challenge, to create a table decoration using fresh flowers and foliage no higher than 12 inches – with a candle – was taken on by 14 competitors and won by Jenny Godliman.
A total of 20 local growers exhibition more than 200 classes at the show and made a 'glorious colourful event', organisers said.
