JURORS were shown a computer-generated walkthrough of the area off Cowley Road in which it is alleged four men 'hunted' and killed Luciano Dos Santos Almeida, as his murder trial continued.

Paul Cavin QC concluded the prosecution opening at Oxford Crown Court yesterday by also showing the jury photographs of the crime scene as well as pathologist images of Mr Almeida's injuries, which included a stab wound to the back of his head.

Michael Yemane, 20, of South Bridge Row, Oxford, Welid Solomon, 25, of Field Avenue, Oxford, Sasan Mohammed Khalid, 19, of no fixed abode, and Safeen Abdullah Karimi, 27, of Hode Garth, Thame, all deny one count of murder.

They are accused of killing the 22-year-old at Southfield Road in East Oxford at about 11.30pm on February 27 this year.

Solomon also denies a further count of doing acts tending to pervert the course of justice by setting fire to a car allegedly used in the killing.

On the first day of the trial on Thursday, the prosecution outlined the crown's case that after a fight involving Solomon and Yemane with Mr Almeida, the group set out in two cars – a black BMW and a Kia Picanto driven by Solomon in an effort to find the other man and ‘mete out some retribution'.

Mr Cavin finished the opening of the trial by playing a walkthrough created by police which went through the route the cars allegedly took and was interspersed with CCTV footage previously shown in court.

This included video of the junction between Cowley Road and Southfield Road which appeared to show the Kia plough into Mr Almeida after he had crossed the road in the direction of a house he was staying at.

It was at this moment, jurors were told, that the attack which would ultimately lead to his death began. The jury is set to visit Southfield Road and the surrounding area on Monday afternoon as the trial continues.
