JOIN up to 1,000 runners in one of the most family friendly sporting events – the Welshpool 10K Run.

“Elite athletes, family and fun runners will all have their place in this amazing route taking in Powis Castle,” promises Alan Lewis, run director of Adrenaline Sporting Events – organisers of the Welshpool 10K.

There are almost 30 weeks to go until the race takes place, starting from Welshpool Town Hall at 9am on Sunday, March 29, 2020 (a minimum entry age of 15 applies).

“There really is something for everyone,” adds Alan. “This is a running event for all runners. Every runner will receive a special medallion featuring Powis Castle and a goodie bag.

“We are expecting thousands to turn up to watch and it will be a great day out and spectacle for all the family and great for business in the town.

“I’m expecting there to be great interest and we’ve got more than 100 entries already from all over the UK with some coming from France to take part,” adds Alan.

The charity partner for the Welshpool 10K will be Hope House children’s hospice.

Lynsely Kilvert, fundraising team leader at Hope House, said: “Hope House is really grateful and proud to be the charity partner for the brand new Welshpool 10k.

“Every week three local families face their biggest fear and their child dies, tragically Hope House can only afford to help one.

“It is only with the support of incredible people like Alan Lewis and Adrenaline Sporting Events that Hope House can do everything they can to be there for every mum, dad, brother and sister who needs them.”

“We are on the lookout for a team of amazing supporters to join Team Hope House for the Welshpool 10k. Joining Team Hope House is easy visit hopehouse.org.uk/events and sign up online or call the fundraising team on 01691 671671. For a reduced registration fee and minimum fundraising target of £100 runners will receive a free Hope House running vest, fundraising pack and support up to and on the day.

If runners have already signed up for the event, they can still join Team Hope House by committing to raise the minimum fundraising target. So why not challenge yourself and you will be helping Hope House ensure no family faces the death of a child alone”

The County Times has signed up to be a media partner with Adrenaline Sporting Events for the Welshpool 10K and two of our team hope to run in the event. Alan will provide them with a 12-week programme as a countdown to the race and they will share their experiences of preparing for race day with County Times readers.

Adrenaline Sporting Events is looking to partner with local business, get staff involved and offer advertising opportunities and Alan can be contacted at adrenalinesportingevents@gmail.com

Alan also asked for help with marshalling the event.

The Race Ambassador is Newtown runner Andy Davis, who has represented Wales at the Commonwealth Games and run the London Marathon, and you can see a video of him taking in part of the route at the Adrenaline Sporting Events website www.adrenalinesportingevents.co.uk

RESIDENTS INFORMATION

We aim to minimise disruption for residents on race day. Here is some information to help you get about during the race. You won’t be able to drive on roads that are closed. Many roads will only be closed for a short period. If you live on the route and will need to leave by car during the road closure we advise that you move your car before the closure starts at 8:15am. If you are travelling into the town, please follow the diversion routes to avoid the closed roads.

Spectator Information: The race will take place on fully closed roads for the safety of the runners and the volunteers, therefore we ask that you listen to Marshals and stay off the course until runners have passed. We suggest that spectators watch the start and start and finish on High street. The route has good pavement coverage so feel free to cheer on from all areas.
