AN UPGRADED disabled toilet has been added to Abingdon's Guildhall.

The Space to Change is for people who cannot use standard accessible toilets and includes a height-adjustable changing bench and hoist.

It was formally opened by Karen England, together with her daughters, Tamsin and Lucy, and Abingdon's mayor Charlie Birks.

Ms England, who assisted and advised the town council on creating the Space to Change, said: “Without fully accessible toilet facilities we, and thousands of other disabled people, are limited to staying only an hour or two when going into town or visiting a venue."

Mr Birks, added: “The Guildhall’s Space to Change is a great facility which is much needed and assists both residents and visitors to Abingdon to enjoy all that the town has to offer."

The new toilet joins the other Space to Change toilets at the Abbey Grounds and the White Horse Leisure and Tennis Centre.

It is open from 5am until 11pm each day and can be accessed via a standard RADAR key.
