Have you visited Hurdley Hall near Churchstoke?
Do you remember the wonderful setting adjoining the Roundton Hill Nature
Reserve, the rows of lavender alongside paths, the herbaceous boarders, the mown paths through the wild flower meadow, the topiary and the orchard?
Then you will know why it has been shortlisted as one of 30 favourite gardens that open their gate to the public
to raise funds for the National Garden Scheme.
The English Garden, the National Garden Scheme and Viking Cruises have joined forces this year to find the Nation’s
Favourite Gardens.
A panel of judges has selected a shortlist of gardens from across England and Wales. Hurdley Hall is one of five selected for Wales and the Marches.
You can vote for Hurdley Hall by visiting
https://www.theenglishgarden.co.uk/ngs/ and you could also win a fantastic River Danube cruise for two with Viking. Voting closes on 30 September. The winners – one for each of the six regions, and one overall champion – will be revealed in the autumn.
Hurdley Hall has completed its openings for this year, but will open again next year by arrangement and on three days during the summer.
Although our summer openings have now finished, we can look forward to enjoying autumn colour in gardens open September and October.
It is not too late to arrange a visit to some gardens. If you have friends and family visiting or want a special afternoon out why not contact the owner and arrange a time for an exclusive visit to one of these gardens.
Thanks to the generosity of garden owners, volunteers and visitors, the National Garden Scheme has donated over £58m to charity since 1927.
Could you help raise even more funds by opening your garden? To find out more contact the county organiser, Susan Paynton, on 01686 650531.

ENDS
Good morning, Nick,
We don't have a garden opening w/e 31 August-1 September, but there are still 10 which open by arrangement ... and much more exciting I
would like to highlight the success of Hurdley Hall which has been shortlisted for the Nation's Favourite Garden competition and to encourage your readers to vote for this wonderful garden! I do hope that you feel that this is something you can include in
the County Times.
I attach some images of the gardens at Hurdley Hall (please credit Fiona Lea) and an image of Plas Dinam (open by arrangement)
Thank you
Helen
