THE former Jamie's Italian restaurant unit in Oxford is up for grabs once again.
‘Widely recognised as the premier restaurant pitch in Oxford’, the space is being let out by the city council.
24-26 George Street has been closed since Jamie Oliver’s chain Jamie’s Italian collapsed in May.
The restaurant was the first Jamie’s Italian when it opened back in 2008.
Colliers International state on documents available on the city council’s website: “The property occupies a prominent position on George Street, which is widely recognised as the premier restaurant pitch in Oxford.
“George Street connects the train station to the city centre and therefore benefits from high levels of footfall.
“The property enjoys a return onto Gloucester Street which connects to Gloucester Green.”

The New Theatre is also on the street, along with Odeon’s six screen cinema.
The city council’s deputy leader Ed Turner said last month that the authority had spent £650,000 on an aborted plan to knock down and then build another building in 1-5 George Street, which it owns.
It had hoped to spend £9.75m on the project but found the spending would have been unviable.
