OXFORD City recorded a first victory of the season when beating Hampton & Richmond Borough 3-2 last night.

But they were given a late scare after leading 3-0 midway through the second half.

Tarik Moore-Azille’s double and Nana Owusu’s early strike gave Mark Jones’s side a welcome win in Vanarama National League South.

It took the hosts just six minutes to go ahead, Owusu firing home at the second attempt from close range.

Moore-Azille doubled the lead two minutes into the second period, converting a Josh Ashby corner.

And the same player made it 3-0 on 64 minutes, firing home from close range.

Louis Soares reduced the deficit from the penalty spot 20 minutes from time.

Hampton set up a nervous finish when Tyrone Lewthwaite scored with 11 minutes remaining, but City held on for victory.

Banbury United picked up their second successive point in the BetVictor Southern League after a 1-1 draw at home to Nuneaton Borough.

Mike Ford’s side, who before kick-off observed a minute’s silence after the death of long-standing committee member Nigel Porter, fell behind to Luke Benbow’s 19th-minute strike in the Premier Central clash.

But Banbury secured a draw when Ricky Johnson levelled 11 minutes from time.

In the Emirates FA Cup extra preliminary round replays, Ardley United beat Leverstock Green 3-1 thanks to strikes from Louis Joyce, Drew Boyd and Callum Harvey.
