POLICE are hunting for the driver who ‘nearly killed’ a cyclist and carried on going.

Yesterday afternoon police rushed to the corner of Divinity Road and Cowley road when a man in his sixties was knocked off his bike.

He was taken to hospital with minor injuries, but the driver of the Black Ford Focus had already gone.

Urging locals to help find the person behind the wheel, the cyclist took to the Oxford Community Facebook page, explaining: “I was nearly killed in a nasty hit and run incident on Cowley Road yesterday.

“An angry crowd of locals gathered round the car after the initial smash and I was lying concussed on the road, the driver nearly ran over my head as she reversed to get away.”

The man has since been discharged from hospital and offered an £100 reward for any information given to the police ‘which leads to an arrest’.

A car reg is being circulated on social media but police have not confirmed whether it is the car they are looking for.
