MIKE Ford is hoping Banbury United can bring back the fear factor as they begin their BetVictor Southern League campaign tomorrow.

The Puritans travel to Redditch United in Premier Central hoping to make a positive start to the 2019/20 season.

Banbury have been busy recruiting over the summer, with former Didcot Town dangermen John Mills and Pablo Haysham among eight additions.

The north Oxfordshire side, who were deducted four points last season for fielding an ineligible player, finished 17th in the 2018/19 campaign.

And boss Ford believes the Puritans have a point to prove.

“At times we didn’t do ourselves justice last year,” he said.

“We took a backward step in terms of what the club had achieved in previous seasons.

“So we’re looking to re-establish ourselves as a team people fear and respect and if we can do that then that’s probably mission accomplished.”
