AN OXFORD United fan has been banned for five years after 'throwing a missile'.

Thames Valley Police's football twitter account reported that the 27-year-old was arrested at the Sunderland v Oxford United game on Saturday.

The Yellows were playing Sunderland at the Stadium of Light and took with them 1,122 Oxford United fans.

TVP Football tweeted that the fan appeared in court, although did not specify which court, yesterday.

It reported that he pleaded guilty to throwing a missile and assault.

The fan was handed an 18 month community order and five year banning order, of which the details were not revealed.

He was also ordered to pay £275 fine and costs.
