A BEAUTIFUL mosaic, one and a half metres square, has been created by a group of Year 10 art students and two Sixth formers at Royal Wootton Bassett Academy, where it will be installed in the school grounds later this summer.

White tiles and others in lovely natural shades of blue and green feature in the attractive design, which features a star, and the words Life, Peace, Love, Truth, Hope and Unity.

Art teacher Karen Goddard, who supervised the venture, said the mosaic is in memory of former members of the school, whether staff or pupils.

The design, planned over a couple of months, was inspired by artwork at Grenfell Tower. The project, which has been funded by the National Art Society's Wiltshire branch, was admired by all who saw it in the art department just before the school broke up for the summer holiday.

Students involved in the ambitious project included Ella Bridgman, Paige McKeating, Holly Norris, Isobel Leary, Megan Collinson, Emily Belcher, Charlotte Vincent, Erin White, Kathryn Harman, Simona Gonsalves and Abigail Rodrigues, who have created a memorable piece of artwork that will enhance the school grounds.
