A DATE for the opening of Oxford's new supersized charity shop has been announced.
The new Oxfam 'superstore' will be a large-scale charity shop, selling bargain clothes and homewares and also boasting a drive-through donation drop-off point and cafe inside an old water-tank.
But, visitors excited to have a peak inside will have to wait until the end of summer.
The secondhand supermarket will be set up inside a 14,500-sq ft warehouse at Oxford Business Park and will officially be open to members of the public from September 7.
Before they swing open the doors, the charity needs an army of volunteers to prepare the shop floor so have begun the appeal to get staff on-board.
Oxfam’s volunteer manager, Matthew Croxall, said “Come and be one of our original Superstore Superheroes. Whether you’re a fashion enthusiast, a lover of literature or whatever your skills or interests, there is a volunteer role to match.
“If you enjoy working in a fun and diverse team, thrive on meeting and talking to people, and you'd like to be part of an exciting new community project right from the start, we want to hear from you.”
Oxfam bosses have already begun the plea for donations to the superstore, which can be made via the swish new drive-through donation drop-off point at the new hub from Monday to Saturday 9.30am until 4.30pm.
