A BROKEN down crane and a fuel spillage caused delays on the A34 this morning.

One lane was closed on the Northbound carriageway near the A420 (Botley Interchange) and reportedly reopened at around 9.25am.

Police confirmed they attended the scene, while Highways England added that drivers should approach the area with caution. Queues were stretching for five miles at one stage, according to the Oxford Mail live travel feed.

Oxfordshire County Council told motorists to expect delays on the road.

By 8.30am, queues were stretching as far as Sunningwell (see below).

Oxford Mail:

By around 10.30am, the road was back to normal and the crane had been recovered.
