A MAN arrested after an 'incident' involving a machete in Oxford has been released under investigation.

The 24-year-old was detained on suspicion of carrying an offensive weapon on Friday.

The incident took place in Windale Avenue, Oxford, with police appealing for witnesses.

Detective Inspector James Senior of Force CID at Oxford police station, previously said: “This occurred in a busy area in the afternoon therefore I believe there will have been a number of people who could have seen it taking place.

“We are committed to tackling incidents involving offensive weapons in our communities and would ask anyone with information to come forward and speak to police.

“Anyone who is aware of offensive weapons being present in our communities is asked to report it to us by calling 101, or via Crimestoppers anonymously.”
