Lucy Fletcher, 64, from Wallingford, was at the protest today handing out leaflets.

She said: "We are doing peaceful action today in Barclays because it's important for big organisations to understand that they cannot keep costing the planet.

"We all need to pull together to face the climate change issues and if we don't make this a priority then we'll have even bigger problems."

Ms Fletcher, who joined Extinction Rebellion's campaign around four months ago, added: "I realised I had been sensitised by documentaries on TV about how we are ruining the lives of those on the other side of the world through the way we live, and we cannot continue to exploit them.

"This is such a tiny globe and leaders need to recognise that and stop being blind."
