A NEW office block is set to be built on a car park in a city industrial estate.
Plans have been submitted to Oxford City Council to demolish the existing buildings to the rear of Europcar vehicle hire on Ferry Hinksey Road, off Botley Road.
The applicant wants to then erect a new two-storey building on that site, which is part of the Osney Mead Industrial Estate, and part of the car park there.
The office block would also have car parking space, cycle stores and 'amenity space', the company said.
Documents submitted with the application state: "The building has a tired appearance and is of no architectural merit.
"The site has most recently been used as an overflow area for the parking of rental cars.
"Existing buildings on the site are sub-standard and do not realise the full potential of the site.
"The proposal would redevelop the land and result in an enlarged building with high quality office floorspace to meet identified needs for modern office accommodation within the city."
