OXFORD station has been named the 13th best in the country based on facilities, food and shopping, and train times.

The data, which was collected by hotel group Novotel, used the criteria to give the UK's 100 busiest stations a score out of 100.

It showed in the last six months 72 per cent of trains at Oxford had been on time, with 27 per cent delayed and just one per cent cancelled.

Oxford was ranked number 13 based on a score of 66.83, placing it just outside the top 10 and one place above nearby Reading station.

London’s Paddington comes out on top as the UK’s best train station, earning a score of 79.89 thanks to its wide range of facilities, selection of shopping and food outlets and above average punctuality.
