A BURGLAR broke into a home in Headington then fled empty-handed when he disturbed the owner.

Thames Valley Police said the incident happened in Larkins Lane, at about 10.50pm on Wednesday.

A spokesman said on Twitter: “The offender gained access to the property but was disturbed by the occupant.

“The offender ran off, nothing was stolen.”

The force has warned that the summer is a time when there can be an increase in residential burglaries. This can be attributed to opportunist thieves taking advantage of doors and windows being left open.
