THUNDERSTORMS and heavy rain are expected to batter the county over the coming days.

A yellow weather warning has been issued by the Met Office forecasting the dreary weather for tomorrow and Tuesday.

The rain is expected to hit the county tomorrow from 8am with light rain predicted, before that moves to an 80 per cent chance of heavy rain at 9am through to 11am when the wet weather is expected to peter out.

Temperatures are still expected to stay around 20C throughout the day.

An updated weather warning from the Met Office today shows the stormy weather moving south east during Monday night, along with the yellow weather warning which will still include Oxfordshire.

Temperatures are expected to reach 23C with heavy rain predicted throughout Monday night and into Tuesday morning.

The yellow weather warning is in place until midnight on Tuesday.

The Met Office warning says heavy rain and thunderstorms may lead to flooding and disruption.

Adding: "Isolated heavy thunderstorms may then develop across parts of England and Wales during the afternoon [Monday].

"Further heavy thundery rain may then arrive into parts of southern and southeastern England and East Anglia during the evening.

"In areas affected by the thundery rain, 15 to 30 mm may fall widely and 30 to 40 mm of rain may fall over parts of northern England. In areas affected by isolated heavy thunderstorms, 30 to 40 mm of rain may fall in an hour in a few places."
