SHIPPING containers will be revamped into a compost toilet, social space and storage in allotments – but only if plans are given the thumbs-up by Oxford City Council.
Developers were granted planning permission in 2016 to improve the allotments in Barton next to the Northern Bypass.
But now, they say the 'integral community facility that is at the heart of the Barton Park Development' needs an upgrade.
As it is, there is one allotment hut – but if plans go ahead this will be knocked down and replaced with recycled shipping containers. Inside, there will be an eco-toilet, a kitchen, storage and social space.
