ORGANISERS behind one of Oxford’s biggest events will host a comedy night to mark one month before the extravaganza kicks off.

Cowley Road Carnival is held each year at Oxford’s most well-known street and this year’s event will take place on Sunday, July 7.

Thousands are expected to fill out Cowley Road for a colourful procession as well as live music and stalls, organised by the charity Cowley Road Works.

Ahead of this year's event, the The Oxford Artisan Distillery (TOAD) at Cheney Lane will host a Comedy for Carnival night.

Organisers said: "Guaranteed to sell out, this Comedy for Carnival night at TOAD will be a cracking night out.

“There will be gin and a tour of the gin factory, aka the distillery, where the TOAD magic happens.

“Find out how they do it, and have a sample or two, or three, or four."

The tour and one gin are included in the ticket price.

There will also be comedy presented by QED Comedy Lab with Outliars, an 'off-beat storytelling show'.

Four comedians will each tell an outrageous true story but one of them is lying and guests must work out the fact from fiction.

The event will be held on June 7 at 6.30pm. Visit cowleyroadcarnival.co.uk for more information
