A NATURE reserve was taped off by police after a body was found early this morning. 

Bure Park Nature Reserve in Bicester was cordoned off and Thames Valley Police confirmed the discovery of a body of a man in his 60s.

His body was discovered about 8.45am this morning.

Forensics were at the scene for most the day, combing the area for evidence.

It is not known exactly where the body was found within the nature reserve but passersby reported a lot of police activity close to Reedmace Road, and along the footpath off Banbury Road.

Other residents on Facebook also reported seeing a number of police officers having closed off further entrances and exits around the reserve.

An update from Thames Valley Police this afternoon confirmed the death is being treated as 'unexplained and non-suspicious'.

The force also confirmed the next of kin have been made aware and a file is being prepared for the coroner.

The nature reserve at Bure Park covers around 25 acres and is often used by dog walkers and families heading to and from the local primary school.

It was awarded nature reserve status in 2005 and runs between the Bure Park housing estate and the London to Birmingham railway line.

The cordon has now been lifted.
