TICKET machines have stopped issuing pre-paid tickets at Oxford station this morning.

Passengers are reporting that all but one of the machines have been affected by a software glitch.

Machines were upgraded overnight and now people are finding they are unable to collect tickets for travel.

Companies are advising people to use the staffed ticket counters instead.

Councillor John Howson, who was at the station this morning, said: “I have just collected a ticket for travel tomorrow from the one machine at the station still working.

“You can buy new tickets for travel today from the machines, but the collect ticket button doesn't work.”

The problem is affecting stations natiowide with several train companies reporting similar issues.

A spokesman of the Rail Delivery Group, which represents train companies, said: “Passengers with some train companies have this morning been experiencing problems collecting tickets from machines.

"We’re sorry for the inconvenience caused and are working with the relevant supplier to fix the problem as soon as possible. People affected should speak to their train company or visit the ticket office.”
