A STREET could have new electric gates after police said that a physical barrier was needed to stop crime.
If Oxford City Council give the plans the go-ahead then iron gates will replace the old and heavy barriers at the Lions Brewery on St Thomas Street, which do not close.
Planners say that the increase of antisocial behaviour at the site, which was converted from Morrells Brewery into 61 apartments in 2003, has sparked the plans.
Police have advised that installing the barriers in the pricvat road will help.
