AN ARMY driver who claimed he was too drunk to intentionally bite a man’s face in a club has been found guilty.

Jurors took just two hours yesterday to convict Keenan Samuelson, of Tyne Road, Abingdon, of wounding with intent and he now faces a lengthy jail term.

Samuelson, 27, was in the Bridge night club in Oxford in the early hours of April 8, 2017, when he attacked Nikitas Arnaoutoglou who was out with a group of friends.

Samuelson tipped a drink over his victim’s head before holding him by the neck and biting him ‘two or three’ times, tearing flesh from his face.

Mr Arnaoutoglou was left permanently scarred by the unprovoked attack.

Samuelson had already admitted the lesser charge of wounding but his defence barrister tried to claim he hadn’t intended to cause the serious injury because he was too drunk to know what he was doing.

The jury heard how the ‘irrational, instinctive’ nature of the assault and Samuelson’s ‘curiously relaxed’ attitude afterwards showed he ‘did not know what he had done’, his defence said.

It was also claimed that if Samuelson had intended to wound, he would have used his fists to ‘pummel the victim’ instead or have 'smashed a glass over his head.'

But prosecutor Edward Culver pointed to CCTV and police body cam footage in which he said Samuelson could be seen standing ‘as steady as a soldier on parade.’

He added: “The decisions he made were intentional, deliberate acts.

“At the time he knew exactly what he was doing.”

Samuelson was remanded in custody and will be sentenced on March 1.
