PLANS for 13 homes, including contributions to bettering outdoor play and indoor sports, have been approved.

The homes will be built in Ardley near Bicester, including seven at an affordable rent and six for shared ownership.

Developer Waterloo Housing will also be committed to £60,000, as part of the approval, to improve the village hall, outdoor play areas and indoor sports locally.

It comes as part of the agreement approved by Cherwell District Council on Thursday.

Cherwell District Council planning committee chairman David Hughes said: “It’s vital that we work to deliver the affordable homes that people need in our district. There is a need for this in many rural areas as well as in our towns.

“In this case we’ve worked alongside the parish council to identify the need for affordable housing, and helped fund it with money from the Government’s Growth Deal.

“The scheme has been sensitively designed to reflect the traditional workers’ cottage style associated with Ardley.”

The homes will be built on arable land off Station Road.
