OZ Clarke, one of Britain’s favourite wine experts, is helping to bring in visitors to Oxford’s Covered Market.
A graduate of Pembroke College, Mr Clarke is a fan of the market and it will now be featured eight times in four episodes of chef James Martin’s Saturday Morning on ITV, from February.
Mr Clarke, filming in the market on Monday and Tuesday, has been encouraging shoppers to sample fine wines. He said these included a ‘bolshy’ Pecorino from Italy, on sale in Tesco for £6.50.
The wine writer, who could return for more filming in the summer, added: “The Covered Market has been a big part of my life since I was a student.”
