POLICE have appealed for witnesses following a string of Oxford break ins which are believed to have been carried out by the same man.

On seven occasions a burglar forced his way into houses on Nye Bevan Close, East Avenue, Divinity Road, Cowley Road and Leopold Street.

The incidents took place on Sunday 25 November, Sunday, December 2, and Sunday, December 9, between 2.25am and 6am.

The man is described as tanned or dark skinned, around 5ft 6ins to 5ft 8ins tall, of a slim build, and dressed in dark clothing, a hooded top and gloves.

The offender was disturbed on each occasion and left the properties without having taken anything.

Investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Bruce Riddell, of the Investigation HUB at Oxford station said: “We would like to reassure the community that investigation is underway into these incidents.

“We would also like to remind residents to remain vigilant, and remember to keep doors and windows to their properties locked and secure while they are out, and also at night.

“If anyone believes that they saw something I would encourage them to report it to police to help our investigation."

He added: “Also, if there are any residents in the area who have CCTV footage nearby, we would ask them to check it for anything that could be of help to us.”
