A SPATE of recent thefts in Oxfordshire has led to police issuing guidance on how to secure building sites from thieves.

Thames Valley Police has told builders to never erect scaffolding until work is ready to begin and to deter climbers by using sheet material or installing extra lighting.

The Chipping Norton Neighbourhood Team is also recommending a contact board be displayed outside the site at all times, giving names and telephone numbers of staff who can easily be contacted to respond to any concerns from the police.

It has been warned that intruders may use sites to access neighbouring buildings so all ladders should be removed and locked away or left in a horizontal position.
