POLICE have released a CCTV image after five elderly women had their purses snatched while in Oxfordshire supermarkets. 

The man pictured is believed to have vital information relating to multiple incidents of theft in Carterton, Faringdon and Witney.

On all occasions the women had purses and bank cards stolen while they were shopping. 

  • The first incident occurred between 10.30am and 11.30am on Friday October 26 at the Aldi supermarket in Carterton.
  • The second incident occurred between 11.30am and 12.00pm on Friday October 26 at Waitrose, Witney.
  • The third incident occurred between 12.45pm and 13.15pm on Friday October 26 at the Aldi supermarket, Faringdon.
  • The fourth incident occurred between 12.00pm and 13.00pm on Thursday November 1 at the Aldi supermarket in Carterton.
  • The fifth incident occurred between 11.00am and 11.30am on Monday November 5 at Aldi supermarket in Carterton.

Investigating Officer Tracy Lannon-Smith based at Witney police station said: “We are appealing to the public for help in identifying the person pictured in this CCTV image, as we believe they could help us with our investigation.

“If you recognise the person in this image then please get in touch with police.”
