KARL Robinson rued Oxford United’s lack of cutting edge as his side fell to a 2-0 defeat at Bradford City.
Two sloppy first-half goals from David Ball and former U’s loanee Jack Payne saw the Bantams end their visitors’ nine-match unbeaten run in all competitions.
United remain above the Sky Bet League One relegation zone despite the defeat, but it could have been a different story had they made the most of their early dominance.
The visitors stunned a bumper Valley Parade crowd with a blistering opening 25 minutes, which had the Bantams back-pedalling.
However, they were unable to make their pressure count, Curtis Nelson heading an early corner wide and Jamie Mackie scuffing their best chance after Marcus Browne had raced into the area.
The U’s were made to pay and head coach Robinson knows his side should have made their dominance count.
He said: “People who were not here will see 2-0 and look at it and go ‘that’s not a great result’.
“I never felt under pressure at all.
“After 25 minutes, it should have been three or four-nil and I can’t really make any excuses about that.
“I think we made our own errors in front of goal and it’s cost us.
“Someone said to me before that it’s almost perfect - we were ruthless in front of goal and defended like trojans.
“Today, we defended really well, they took their chance when it came along, but we just didn’t take our opportunities when we had them.”
