POLICE have announced what they are going to do with £100,000 confiscated from drug dealers, fraudsters and other criminals.

The ill-gotten gains are to be handed out to community groups that deal with problems which plague the police such as forced marriage and road safety.

Charities which help to tackle 'vulnerability', abuse of old people, stalking and honour-based abuse can also apply.

The cash is being made available from Thames Valley Police's Property Act Fund.

The fund is created from money recovered by the force and the proceeds from the sale of items that cannot be returned to identified owners, including seizures from criminals.

The force has already dished out £97,950 this year from the fund to 20 different organisations across Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire.

Applications are now being invited from voluntary and community groups who can help the police tackle criminal activity.

All applications will be required to submit clear evidence of how their project or activity will contribute towards achieving the key aim indicated.

The closing date for this round of applications is Monday, December 17, at 9am.
