A 16-YEAR OLD who snatched a £10,000 Rolex watch from the Goldsmiths store at Westgate has been jailed.

The boy, who is from Hillingdon and cannot be named for legal reasons, had already admitted last month stealing the high value item as well as using threatening, abusive words or behaviour and obstructing a police officer.

At Oxford Magistrates’ Court today he was given a six-month detention training order term of imprisonment for the crime which took place on July 28 this year.

He must also pay a victim surcharge of £30 and was given no separate penalty for obstructing the officer.

The latest theft of a Rolex watch comes after an unrelated incident in February when a 19-year old was spared jail for stealing a Rolex valued at £27,000.

In that case Buraydah Simmons, of Lilac Place, West Drayton, stole the valuable time-piece from the Clarendon Shopping Centre’s Goldsmiths store.

Meanwhile. police later put out an appeal in July trying to find another thief in an unrelated incident at the Covered Market.

John Gowing Jewellers was the target in that theft of a Rolex and police have been unable to locate the offenders since.
