WORKERS have begun demolishing an old bicycle repair shop in East Oxford to make way for a block of flats.

Ashlar House in Glanville Road, which has been empty since 2012, is finally set to be pulled down.

But neighbours have raised concerns about the safety of the demolition.

They say there is no signage warning about asbestos removal and workers are not using the specialist equipment required.

One man said he had to pull his jumper over his mouth due to the dust.

The most recent planning application for the site has still not been decided but Oxford City Council said the demolition was lawful.
