THE launch event of the new Smokefreelife Oxfordshire service was given a super-powered helping hand on Friday, with Batman and Superman helping to draw in the crowds.

Abingdon's Market Square was filled with experts offering advice on how to quit smoking, while organisers made sure the serious message was accompanied by a range of entertainment and games.

Funded by Oxfordshire County Council’s Public Health team, Smokefreelife Oxfordshire provides a 12-week program to help people kick the habit.

The launch of the service on Friday aimed to tie in with the start of the NHS' annual Stoptober campaign.

Further Smokefreelife Oxfordshire events will take place at Templars Square Shopping Centre on October 4 and at Castle Quay Shopping Centre, Banbury, on October 11, both running between 10am and 3pm.
