FUNERAL details have been announced for the late Eleanor Bolton, widely known as the Botley Bag Lady.

A service being organised by next-of-kin will take place at 2.30pm on Tuesday, September 4, at the Church of St Mary, Church Street, Bloxham.

That will be followed by a small reception at Bloxham School.

The body of Ms Bolton, 73, a well-known character in Oxford, was found on grassland off the Botley Road in June.

Following the news of her death, tributes poured in to the Oxford Mail with many residents wanting to tell their own stories and memories of Ms Bolton.

A number of appreciation groups had been set up on social media dedicated to the eccentric figure who had become an icon of sorts in Oxford and outside of the city, while dozens of friends and residents had previously offered to help pay for an organise a funeral for the well-known character.

It emerged that her parents had been teachers at Bloxham School.

A full inquest will be held on November 1.
