COUNTY councillors are today likely to agree to reconsider changing a controversial plan to charge about 130 families with disabled teenagers or those with special needs for school transport.
The county council’s cabinet passed a plan last month to charge parents of children between 16 and 18 up to £730 a year.
But following disquiet from councillors – including some from within the ruling Conservative-Independent alliance – other proposals will be sought if the cabinet agrees to the change this afternoon.
The council said the proposal would have brought £330,000 back into the council but 2,000 people signed a petition against it.
