GRAFFITI inspired by the Royal wedding has been used to protest about the West Way development, despite work beginning on site.

A quote from the Bishop Michael Curry, who presided over the ceremony on Saturday, has been sprayed in large red letters on hoardings at the shopping centre.

Covering the boards put up over the old West Way Chippy, the site's last independent trader which closed in April, the quote references the Bishop's 'love is the way' sermon.

The majority of the other closed shops have been painted as part of a community art project and have as yet been untouched by the mystery 'artist', who calls themselves 'Waldo Skipsey'.

Despite work finally beginning in another corner of the site, Waldo has continued to rally against the big shopping centre redevelopment.

He has previously compared Botley to a 'dystopia'.
