The van has a distinctive blue decal on the rear right hand side.

Investigating officer Detective Constable James Macaro, of Force CID at Oxford, said: "I am appealing for witnesses to the assault to make contact with me.

"This was an unprovoked attack that happened at a busy time of the day and there were many passing vehicles.

"I particularly would like to speak to the occupants of the white van, as they offered to help the victim but have not passed on their details. I believe they may have crucial information which may assist us in our investigations."
