PUPILS from a North Oxford school have made the most of half-term with a number of trips abroad.

Students at d'Overbroeck's studying geography at sixth form made their way to Morocco from Sunday until yesterday, where they spent time in Marrakech and the Atlas Mountains.

The aim of their trip was to study urban-rural differences and the impact of tourism on a country.

History students went to Poland to visit Krakow and Auschwitz from Tuesday until Friday and also had the opportunity to tour Galicia Museum with a talk from a holocaust survivor.

Other pupils had the opportunity to go to Bardonecchia in Italy on February 10 and are due to return tomorrow.

They have spent their days skiing on the site of the 2006 Winter Olympics near Turin.

The trips followed a visit earlier in February by sixth form students studying physics to the Old Road Campus Research Building at Oxford University, where they listened to a detailed talk on cancer before touring the labs and finding out more.
