Horspath captain Will Eason is hoping Harrison Ward carries on tomorrow where he left off after becoming the youngest player to score a century for Oxfordshire.

Ward hit an unbeaten 109 in Oxon’s 133-run victory over Herefordshire at Brockhampton on Tuesday at the age of just 15 years and 269 days.

Eason gave the left-hander his Serious Cricket Home Counties Premier League debut against Division 1 leaders Henley nine weeks ago – an opportunity he grasped by top-scoring with 47 in a 143-run defeat.

And now he is set to face the same opponents at the Recreation Ground tomorrow.

Reacting to Ward’s ton, Eason said: “I just think he has got so much class it really didn’t surprise me.

“I was absolutely delighted for him, like everyone else was, and hopefully he can take it into this Saturday as well.”

Ward, an off-spinner, is also likely to get an opportunity with the ball with Adam Price, who mixes spin and seam, and Adam Krol unavailable.

Shahbaz Ali and seamer Tom King come into the side.

Luke Ryan is urging his Banbury side not to get complacent after they have moved to within a point of Henley.

Ed Phillips stepped in as an opener and carried his bat with an unbeaten 87 during their five-wicket victory over Tring Park last Saturday.

Unbeaten under the timed format, Banbury are unchanged as they host Harefield.

And Ryan said: “We are on a bit of a roll, but we are just aware of the complacency and the big games coming up.”

Skipper Ian Crosby is hoping Oxford can translate their best performance of the season when they came within one wicket of beating High Wycombe into a first victory as they visit Reading.

Oxford were foiled by Wycombe's last pair, who batted for 15 overs to secure a draw last Saturday.

And Crosby said: "It bodes well going into the last seven games. Obviously we need to start winning quickly or we will leave ourselves too much to do over the last month."

Seamer Will Rooney returns in place of Alex Spears.
