THERE were plenty of comic capers at the Story Museum this weekend as illustrators met comic book fans.

The Pembroke Street museum played host to the second comic book festival organised by Oxford-based comic The Phoenix.

The debut event last year was so popular that this year’s festival doubled in size.

On Saturday youngsters met their favourite comic book artists, who were running interative workshops and creating new adventures.

Robin Etherington writes strips such as The Dangerous Adventures of Von Doogan with brother Lorenzo for the Beaumont Street comic.

He said: “We have been to every comic show in the UK and they have always been dominated by adult readers with a lot of superhero fare.

“The refreshing sense of enthusiasm here is amazing.

“It is inspiring that there are that many children who are looking at comic books and thinking they want to do it when they grow up.”
