MYLEENE Klass is to headline this summer’s Henley Festival with a concert to celebrate Britain’s military heritage.

The former Hear’Say pin-up is one of the world’s biggest names in light classical music, being an accomplished singer and pianist.

Myleene, who also has a career as successful model and TV presenter, will top the bill for the festival’s A Classical Salute, an evening of classical and military music performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Stephen Bell.

The concert takes place on the rousing final night of the festival, which runs from July 8-12.

Henley Festival is one of the biggest live music events in Oxfordshire – attracting tens of thousands of people to five days of pop and acoustic performances along with comedy and art. Classical music has always been an important aspect.

Oxford Mail:

A Classical Salute will celebrate the power and glory of the Royal Philharmonic, which will be joined by a string of military musicians including ceremonial trumpeters for Verdi’s Grand March from Aida, a band of military drummers for Ravel’s Bolero and uniformed pipers for Highland Cathedral by Roever.

The orchestra will also be joined by internationally acclaimed soloists for performances of popular greats including Rule Britannia, Bizet’s Carmen and a performance of Goodwins 633 Squadron. There will also be music by Gershwin, Strauss and many others, and the evening will end with fireworks exploding over the Thames.
