AN AVERAGE of one person a year is too large to be cremated at Oxford Crematorium.
The news comes in the wake of Local Government Association claims that crematoriums nationally were too narrow to deal with increasing numbers of over-sized coffins.
Natasha Antill, spokesman for Oxford Crematorium, in Barton, said they had not seen a rise in the number of larger coffins ordered over the last few years. She added: "As and when we need to replace our cremators we will be considering the possibility of installing cremators which can accommodate larger-sized coffins."
