A RAMP in the middle of the Pedestrian Heart has been removed to allow work to progress on steps.
The ramp, which leads from Post House Wynd to West Row, in Darlington town centre, has been taken out and a new temporary ramp opened near the entrance to Bucktons Yard. This ramp leads onto West Row.
Work on Upper Northgate is now completed.
On West Row, the steps are progressing and paving work has commenced at the bottom of the steps on the corner outside the Boyes store.
Paving work is continuing on the upper level at the north end of High Row in the area surrounding the Specsaver store.
Workers are also beginning to install kerbs and pave the Priestgate corner of Prebend Row.
Anyone with concerns or questions about the pedestrianisation should contact Darlington Borough Councilfs liaison officer Geraint Williams on 07950-498752 or e-mail geraint.williams@darlington.gov.uk.
Comments about the actual construction work should be directed to Tim Bowers, who is the site agent for the contractors Birse Civils Ltd, on 07970-125381 or tim.bowers@birse.co.uk For updates visit www.darlington.
