Hampshire Cup Final.

College Youth U13 5, Bishops Waltham Dynamos U13A 0.

Bishops Waltham Dynamos Under 13s made history after becoming the first team at any age level to represent their club in a Hampshire Cup final.

After an excellent run of cup success they faced College Youth, their old adversaries from the Mid Solent League.

A bright, attacking start from Dynamos saw a battling College side up their game, forcing a string of excellent saves from goalkeeper Greg Andrews.

But after ten minutes College went ahead, catching the Dynamos defence on the break after an attack had broken down. Andrews saved the initial shot but could do little about the follow up from a College forward, who fired home from close range.

Dynamos suffered a further setback after twenty minutes, when left midfielder Alex Miers was forced off the pitch and replaced by Adam Saunders after picking up an injury.

College continued to frustrate a wasteful Dynamos team, and subsequently made them pay by scoring two goals in as many minutes. A mix up in the Dynamos defence led to a soft goal being conceded, before a corner was left to fall at the feet of a College player, who made no mistake of his chance.

The Dynamos midfield continued to press forward in the hope of closing the three-goal gap, with Liam Hibberd and Alex Dale putting in strong performances.

It took until the half-hour mark for the Dynamos to test the Andrews in the College goal. A diagonal ball found Matt Williams in space who, after checking inside of a defender, fired a low drive towards the corner which was turned around the post.

The Dynamos were caught on the break again during the second half after a clearance from a corner started a College attack down the left that somehow ended with the ball in the net after Andrews was beaten at the near post.

College were now four goals ahead, and their growing confidence was evident as they began to push forward from the back, forcing Dynamos to chase the game. After pushing bodies forward in the hope of pulling a goal back, Dynamos were once again caught out, allowing a College player to find the back of the net to secure their fifth goal and the Hampshire Cup.

This was the first time that Dynamos had failed to score in 34 games, however after doing so well to reach the final, the result has not overshadowed their achievements.
