HOPEFULLY Warrington Wolves will be able to look back at Sunday's victory at the Millennium Stadium as the turning point of their 2007 campaign.

Wolves, decimated by injuries this year, slipped to third bottom after four consecutive defeats but the recent return of most of their injured stars led to their highest win for 13 months in Cardiff on Sunday.

Paul Cullen's troops, guilty of conceding 17 costly penalties in the previous week's defeat against Bradford, slipped up only four times in the Welsh capital and bottom team Salford could not handle Wolves' power play with the amount of possession they had.

Wolves' head coach was buoyed by the display and said: "We intend to make the second half of the season ours.

"We think we have gone through the mill so far, battered and knocked to pieces, but we have shown the first big signs of our recovery."

Wolves, who climbed to seventh in the engage Super League table with the success, were never behind and cashed in on their domination with five tries in 18 minutes at the start of the second half.

Approximately 2,500 Wolves fans lapped it up, providing much-needed carnival atmosphere under the closed roof of a partially full stadium.

The flag-waving primrose and blue clad supporters started their singing and chanting midway through the first half of the Huddersfield versus Wakefield clash - game four of Millennium Magic weekend - and never stopped until Wolves' players left the field.

Perhaps they were practising for a craved appearance at the new Wembley in August!

If their energy levels were impressive, so were those of stand off Vinnie Anderson, who ran almost the full length of the field for the second week in a row to score another wonderful try that had everyone out of their seats.

Skipper Lee Briers also had a day to remember.

Not only was he instrumental in seven of Wolves' 10 tries, the scrum half jumped over Harry Bath into third place in the club's all-time point-scoring chart with his 14th-minute trademark interception try, while his conversion to Stuart Reardon's opening try of the second half was his 750th in primrose and blue colours.

He was only able to excel on the back of a dominant display from a pack that welcomed back Rob Parker and was led by Adrian Morley, Mike Wainwright and Ben Westwood.
