MICHAEL Owen will make his first start of the season, for Newcastle at Reading.
Owen has not played since damaging knee ligaments in England's 2-2 draw with Sweden in last year's World Cup.
And tonight, after a long and drawn out recovery process, the front man makes only his 11th appearance in a Newcastle United shirt and his first since appearing at Birmingham a year and a day ago.
