The streets were packed with visitors throughout Saturday and the High Street was awash with colour at 11am as St George on horse-back and a huge ten-foot dragon created by primary school kids paraded through the town.

The Mayor of Dudley, Councillor John Woodall, a host of Dudley councillors, borough groups and bands also turned out for the festivities honouring England's patron saint.

A medley of attractions and activities were laid on throughout the day, hosted by Beacon Radio by the town clock.

Stourbridge singer Maggie O'Hara entertained the crowds as did medieval re-enactors demonstrating weapons dating from the days of knights in armour to the English Civil War.

There was also face-painting and balloon modelling for the kids, exhibitions in Stourbridge Library, Crown Centre and Ryemarket and Foster Street, Thomas the Tank Engine land train, farmers and crafts market in Lower High Street, a tea dance at Stourbridge Town Hall and the celebrations peaked with a concert featuring Voices in Harmony and Halesowen Choral Society.

Mayor of Dudley, Councillor John Woodall, said: "I enjoyed the day very much and it was lovely to see so many people coming out to see the event themselves. I would like to thank the organisers who put on an excellent days entertainment which offered something for everyone."
